The car currently resides
in Ansonia, CT
This was taken right after I hosed her down. The original paint still really shines.
I bought the car in Nov '98, drove it until April '99 until the electrical system crapped out, and almost immediately began the 16v conversion. That took me the whole summer, and I ran out of free time to finish the project (school, etc).
As a cure to the electrical system problem, I'm including the entire wiring harness (fuse box and every single last wire) from an '85 Jetta GLI with the car. This harness came from another lister's car which was a daily driver, but he parted out. The electrical system is known to be in perfect working order, and will be fully compatible with the 16v CIS-E engine and electronics.
Everything you need to get this car running is included. All you need is a little time (something I don't have).
Imperfections in body are listed below:
You get three (3) of these rims. They're 14" Panther rims. Only one of them has decent rubber (It's a Yoko). These are what came with the Jetta GLI I bought. They're very nice, and it shouldn't be too tough to find another. I'm also including a complete set of four 13-inch "spider" rims that were stock on the car.
The front suspension has been upgraded to KYB struts with Scirocco 16v springs, and the ride is great.... It handles incredibly well. The rear has the stock Boge shocks.
There's a Fuba on the roof
stolen (well, not really) from an Audi 5000
Avant.
There's a very VERY nice
Corrado G60 steering wheel (with correct adapter) on it. I LOVE this steering
wheel. I had just put this on only a couple months before I stopped driving
it. The original brushed aluminum steering wheel is also included.
There's trunk carpeting from
a '79 Scirocco S
in really good shape.
I also put red
pinstriping all around the car to make it
look like an S.
(Looks convincing)
The red/blue/black
pinstriping was most likely dealer installed.
The chin spoiler was from
the '89 GLI 16v. That looks good, too.
There's also little things
like a leather shift boot from an '85 Wolfie, the right under-dash shelf
from an '82 modified to fit, and some other little things...
As you can see, the engine swap is pretty much done. It's got the 5-spd, radiator, and fuel system from the GLI all hooked up. There's a 16v exhaust manifold and half a downpipe, but that's it for the exhaust system. The old 8v system is still bolted on from the cat back. The fuel lines, vaccum lines, and engine elctronics are all hooked up.
It won't start. It'll crank. You need to tow it. Give me $500 and it's yours. I don't have the heart to junk it or donate it to the kidney foundation or something. This is really a steal.
I'll also consider the trade of a real nice in-dash CD player AND a four channel amplifier (> 35w RMS).
